P I E T E R   SPAANDER  baptized 30 January 1718 in Barsingerhorn, buried 14 March 1800 in Medemblik. From 29 March 1737 till 1787 he was a notary *) and took over most of his father's duties. Later on he was the Captain of the 'Witte Vaandel' and Field Officer of the town **). 
In Medemblik on 5 November 1738 he wed
       
MARIJTJE (MARIA) BLOCKER (BLOKKER), baptized 18 October (September) 1719 in  Medemblik, buried 7 February 1785 in Medemblik. She was the daughter of Jacob BLOCKER,
Secretary and Lord Mayor of Medemblik, and Grietje EVERTS.

FRANS PONT  born 12 March 1753, baptized 14 March 1753, died 14 November 1808 in  Medemblik. He was the son of Pieter PONT, born 11 March 1722 in Edam, died  26 November 1783, and Catharina (Katrina) COSTERUS born 13 July 1726 in Edam,  died 23 October 1755.
       Children:  20-04-1781 Pieter ****), bapt 27-03-1785 Maria and bapt 30-07-1786 William.

*) 12 November 1760:  As charged in writing and having power of attorney for Madam Amalia Murray, widow from Milord George Murray, Pieter Spaander sold a house, yard and tree nursery on 't Eyland' within the town for Hfl.340.
In 1745 and 1746 Milord George Murray was commander of the army of Charles Edward Stuart,
Pretender to the Scottish crown. After the defeat of his army by the English he went into exile and
settled in Medemblik.  He lived in 22 Breedstraat, which is still known as the 'Murray House'. On
11 October 1760 he died and was buried in the chancellery of the Dutch Reformed Church. His grave is now surrounded by an iron railing and his beautiful tombstone with its many 'kwartieren
' is now
inside the church and placed in the west side wall. (see also page 74).

**) The position of Field Officer was the highest position in a town. He performed the swearing-in of the Lord Mayors. Each year three Lord Mayors were chosen, of which one was President Lord Mayor. Each year 60 inhabitants were selected to do the voting.  The selection of the 60 was by drawing a bean from a barrel with white and black beans. Hence the name 'boontrekker' (bean drawer).

***) Catrina wed the Rev Charles Anthony MACLAINE, baptized 8 June 1760 in 's Gravenhage, the son of Archibald MACLAINE and Esther Wilhelmina CHAIS.  Catrina died 5 May 1851 in Medemblik.

****) Pieter was born 20 April 1781 in Medemblik and died 18 July 1846. On 21 September 1803 he wed Louise Maria Elisabeth BOOM, baptized 26 July 1781 in Rotterdam, died 10 October 1811 in Medemblik She was the daughter of Gerard BOOM and Mary HAKE. On 8 April 1812, after Louise passed away, Pieter wed Maria (Mary) MACLAINE, born 3 May 1789 in 's Gravenhage, died 31 May 1857 in Hoorn. She was the daughter of Charles Anthony MACLAINE and Catrina (Catharina) SPANJAARD and the granddaughter of Elisabeth's sister Dieuwertje.
