P I E T E R SPAANDER born 21 September 1910 in Edam, died 23 November 1985 in Hoorn. He was one of the Spaanders who gathered the data for this family book. Pieter had a busy life. He was a
bookkeeper at the gas works in Edam and subsequently in Zaandam with the gas works 'Zaanstreek/Waterland', where he worked for 47years. At his farewell he was awarded the silver medal of the 'Orde van Oranje Nassau'.
In 1981, after 40 years as a faithful member of the C N V (trade union), he was awarded the golden
insignia. He served the community of Edam as Treasurer of the Reformed Kapel, later on the 'Grote Kerk' and for 28 years was Treasurer of the 'Proveniersstichting' (Proevevoogd) from 1956 till 1984. For 40 years he was involved with the Sundayschool of the Dutch Reformed Church in Volendam. He was a member of the resistance during WW II (member of KP Waterland) and was one of the two Spaanders who received the 'Verzetskruis 1940-1945' (Resistance Cross) from the Dutch government. After the war he became secretary of the local 1940-45 committee and helped organize the Remembrance Day activities in Edam.

CORNELIA SCHOKKER born 28 November 1911 in Volendam, died 11 October 1995. She was the daughter of Cornelis SCHOKKER, who passed away just four months before she was born, and
Trijntje VELDHUIZEN, daughter of Jacobus VELDHUIZEN, who is mentioned on page 49.

WILFRED LUDGERIO MARTHA born 26 March 1936 in Curacau.
They were separated on 20 June 1996.
