1 ELISABETH (Betty) born 15 December 1876 in Volendam, died 26 August 1972. On 16 July 1902 she wed ANDRIES VAN DER WOERD born 14 April 1872 in Zoelen, died 5 February 1944 in Amsterdam. They had a daughter called Adri. He was an art-master at the 'Hoogere Technische School' in Amsterdam and the son of Jan Jacobus VAN DER WOERD and Adriana VAN STEENIS. On 10 March 1953 the court of Law of Amsterdam appointed their son P.J.van der WOERD as a curator, to take over the running of 'Hotel Spaander' after Aaltje (Leendert's daughter) passed away. 2 WILLEMPJE (Willemien) born 28 February 1879 in Volendam, died 11 December 1959. On 13 February 1906 she wed LEENDERT VAN DER KNOOP born 7 December 1874 in Schiedam, died 19 February 1967. He was a grain dealer and the son of Klaas VAN DER KNOOP and Martina SCHILPEROORD. 3 AALTJE (Alida) born 4 March 1881 in Volendam, died 29 June 1952. She managed the running of the Coffee House 'De Beurs' opposite the town's fish auction and later on took over the running of 'Hotel Spaander' from her father at around 1920.. See also note 1-51) in Appendix 1 on page 117. On 18 March 1920 she wed WILLEM HOEKSTRA born 1 February 1886 in Urk. He was a hotel manager before he married Aaltje and the son of Kornelis Lutzen HOEKSTRA and IJbeltje Willems BOONSTRA. Aaltje and Willem separated on 13 September 1934. They had a son, Leendert, born 26 March 1921, who in 1939 obtained a diploma at the Hotel Trade School in Scheveningen. In WW-II he was summoned up to work in Germany and came to work in a hotel in Berlin. (Refer also to the note on page 37, but remember that some people did not have a choice whether or not to go to Germany. They were simply picked up from the street or taken from their houses.) Willem became seriously overstrung by the many bombardments with which he could not deal anymore. Because of his mental illness the Court of Law of Amsterdam appointed his cousin P J van der Woerd as temporary manager of 'Hotel Spaander' when his mother passed away, instead of his father who apparently had shown very little interest in his son. 4 TRIJNTJE MARGARETHA (Trinet) born 6 September 1883 in Volendam, died 15 May 1974. On 4 August 1914 she wed in Paris AUGUSTIN HANICOTTE born 10 March 1870, died 12 August 1957. He was a French artist, the son of Lord Mayor HANICOTTE of Bethune in France. (refer also to page 58) 5 JAN see page 53 6 KLASINE PAULINE (Pauline) born 20 July 1887 in Volendam, died 30 October 1918. On 28 June 1912 she wed GEORGE RICHARD WILHELM HERING born 4 June 1884 in Aurich Germany, died 19 January 1936. He also was an artist and the son of Johann Wilhelm HERING, teacher at a training college, and Dorothea Marie Catharina WEISSKER. After Klasine's death George wed Elisabeth LASALLE who, out of jealousy, drowned his little daughter from his first marriage. She was condemned to 20 years in jail and died by her own hand. George remarried a third time, viz. with Louise VAN MEGEN. 7 JOHANNA HERMINA CAROLINA (Hermien) born 26 July 1889 in Volendam, died 15 May 1972. On 22 September 1909 she wed in Volendam ABRAHAM HARINGHUIZEN born 17 January 1884, died 22 June 1951 in Nieuwe Niedorp. He was a machinist in a sugar factory and later on a factory-owner in Solo N.O.I. He was the son of Pieter HARINGHUIZEN and Elisabeth VAN DER DEURE. Johanna separated on 2 May 1930 in Semarang, N.O.I. On 12 March 1931 in Batavia she wed JACOB JAN VAN HELSDINGEN (Jaques Yelle Rudolph ?) born 11 September 1879 in Ambon, died 11 April 1967. He was Governor of Solo and the son of Carel Christiaan VAN HELSDINGEN and Suzanna Carolina Henriette JELLESMA.
