L E E N D E R T SPAANDER born 26 March 1805 in Jisp, baptized 7 April in the Dutch Reformed Church, died 19 October 1864.. His godmother was Sijtje SCHOTEL. He was a sail maker in Durgerdam and had in his home a drawing of a ship, a man-of-war, with a high stern (like in the 16th and 17th century). The name of the ship was 'De Jonge Arend' (The Young Eagle). He told visitors that the ship had belonged and was commandeered by one of his forebears, who had fought the Spaniards with this ship in the 15th century. He added that his forebear "hakte de schepen aan Spaanders" (he cut the ships to chips. spaander = chip)

On 3 May 1829 Leendert wed
AALTJE VAN DEN BERG born 21 November 1799 in Zaandam, died 1 July 1871.
After the death of her husband Aaltje moved to Nieuwendam on 8 March 1865. She was the daughter of Pieter Roelofsz VAN DEN BERG, born 6 April 1769 in Zaandam, died 10 August 1805, who on
23 November 1793 wed Maritje JONGES, born 23 July 1769, died 8 January 1810.

ELISABETH WILHELMINA KERKHOOVEN born 9 January 1839 in Amsterdam, died 21 March 1927. She was the daughter of Anthonie KERKHOOVEN and Anna Sophie Margaretha KOEK (VOEK).
On 20 January 1875, after Martinus died, she wed Pieter VERWAYEN, born 5 April 1850, died 31 July 1881. On 21 December 1882, after this Pieter died, she wed Jan SPAANDER (see page 29).
6 ANTJE born 4 March 1843 in Jisp, died 25 June 1873 in Jisp.
On 26 February 1865 she wed
DIRK VAN DER LINGEN born 18 August 1840 in Durgerdam, died 8 August 1923 in Jisp. He was a ships carpenter. From 8 March 1865 they lived in Nieuwendam, from 5 August 1866 in Edam, in 1867/68 in Volendam and from 14 February 1872 in Jisp.
Dirk was the son of Klaas VAN DER LINGEN and Annaatje VAN SNEEK. On 22 March 1876, after the death of Antje, Dirk wed Geertrui SEEBACH, born 9 September 1846.
