A D R I A A N SPAANDER born 21 October 1902 in Wormerveer. After having been employed for a while in his brother Dirk's business, he fairly soon started his own shop in Zaandijk.
Although he also sold books, he specialized more and more in office installations and later on opened a second (larger) shop in Zaandam. His trade name was ASPA N.V., later on Aspa Group N.V. and later again Samas Groep N.V. with showrooms in The Netherlands, England and France. He was a
committee member, and later on president, of the Dutch Association of Christian Stationers. Together, on an 'on and off' basis with Mr K Simons from Edam, who was president of the (Catholic) Dutch
Association of Stationers, they looked after the interests of the Dutch trade-unions at the 'International
Federation of Stationer Associations'.
Adriaan was 'Ridder in de Orde van Oranje Nassau'. Because he had an 'onderduiker' in his house during WW-II, he was arrested and spent nine months in a concentration camp in Amersfoort.
Family and friends called him 'Assie'.
On 29 October 1924 he wed
ANNA MARIA GROOT born 28 June 1900 in Wormerveer, died 11 March 1963. She was the
daughter of Jan GROOT and Neeltje BAAS.

A D R I A A N SPAANDER born 24 November 1927 in Zaandijk, died 13 January 1997. He studied, after the HBS, economy at the University in Amsterdam and became a candidate for the doctorate in Economy. He was employed in his father's business and became one of the directors. Lateron in life he became president of the Board of Directors of the SAMAS GROUP N.V. He became an Officer in the 'Orde van Oranje Nassau'. He too, like his father, was called 'Assie' by his friends.

Dirk GROOT and Cornelia Agatha VAN DELFT.
