P I E T E R SPAANDER born 27 July 1892 in Wormerveer, died in August 1972. He started of as a
greengrocer and had a little shop at Het Hennepad in Wormerveer, where you also could buy a pair of
cloques. Lateron he became a road-maker. He was without any doubt the comic of the big family. At
anniversaries he could tell numerous stories about his experiences during his military service, as a poacher and as a road maker. On the first day of his enlistment in the army the quartermaster-sergeant threw him a pair of boots. 'I can throw things too', he said and threw them back....... and finished up in the clink on his first day. As a model soldier he was pretty terrible, but on exercises he shone, because he was not afraid of anything or anyone.
As a road maker he once very neatly paved the road around a parked car and let the car standing where it was.

daughter of Leendert ANDREA and Jansje BOTTELIER.
