J A N SPAANDER baptized 3 July 1721, died and buried 14 July 1796 in Durgerdam. He was Master Sailmaker and left a handwritten booklet "Handleiding tot het zeilmaken" (Manual for sail making), which was still used by his namesake Jan Spaander 'Janbaas' in Volendam between 1850 and 1900 . Jan was a guardian over many children, among these : 21 February 1758 Lijsbeth VLUG, daughter of the late Marretje NAT and Dirk VLUG, who was teacher in Durgerdam, 17 May 1758 Trijntje, Antje and Klaas DE VRIES, children of Jacob DE VRIES and the late Trijntje KRAMER, 17 January 1759 Jan and Cornelis SCRIVERIUS, underage children of the late Pieter SCRIVERIUS and Hendrikje KRAMER,
11 July 1767 Trijntje and Lambert VERSTEEG, children of the late Pieter VERSTEEG and Trijntje BERDING, 22 June 1784 Neeltje Dirksd and Teunis Dirksz VAN VEEN, orphans of Dirk Teunisz VAN VEEN, who died 29 October 1784, and Albertje Bartelsd PORTIUS-POSCH, widow of Cornelis POSCH. She died 18 June 1784 and was the daughter of Bartels Jansz PORTIUS, who died
28 October 1791 and Willempje ALBRECHTS, who died 27 January 1792. The father of Dirk Teunisz van Veen, Teunis Dirksz VAN VEEN was married to Neeltje CLOOFWINT, a sister of Meijnsje. The two orphans, Neeltje and Teunis, were thus his niece and nephew .
Jan wed twice. First in Durgerdam on 31 July 1746 he wed
TRIJNTJE ROODT baptized 29 October 1724 in Durgerdam, buried 8 July 1747 in Durgerdam. She was the daughter of Cornelis ROODT, Lord Mayor of Durgerdam, and Niesje HOUTING. When her father died on 16 May 1737, she received from the estate a house, a parcel of land, a burial plot, more than Dfl.4000 in obligations, Dfl.1000 in cash, a big supply of linen and paintings, tin, copper, a lot of
silver cutlery and ?? 1 cock with 6 hens !
Trijntje had been married before, viz. on 24 November 1743 she wed Jacob Jansz BLAK and had two
children by him viz. 27-09-1744 Jan and 20-02-1746 Hendrik. On 1 May 1757 their father Jacob, wed Neeltje KIST.
In Durgerdam on 1 December 1748 Jan wed
MEYNSJE (MIJNSJE) CLOOFWIN(D)T baptized 13 September 1722 in Durgerdam, died
5 December 1800 in Jisp. She was the daughter of Hillebrandt CLOOFWIN(D)T and Neeltje BORDING.
